It may seem like Christmas was not that long ago but it will soon be coming around around like it was just yesterday! One of the things that always excites me in this season as well as the actual Christmas presents of course is all the unique Christmas ornaments and decorations you can buy.
You can get traditional ones to do with Christianity such as the bible and the holy cross, Santa and winter inspired ones that always seem to be a favourite with children and gothic Christmas ornaments for people who like that something a little different.
But my personal favourites tend to be handmade Christmas ornaments . Whether they have been created by family members or I have had them specially made online. I just love how much time and effort must go into making them and the small details they come with like the tiny stitching, careful painting or specialists fabrics and materials that are used.
I will always remember how my nan would make everyone in the family one of those toilet roll dolls each year. You know which ones I mean?- The knitted dolls you put over your pile of toilet rolls!? My nan always insisted each one was different every year and Christmas themed of course. As thoughtful as they were at the time I now have a collection of about 10 Toilet roll dolls! Well at least I have a choice each year!
I am quite the traditionalist when it comes to decorating to and will hang holly wreaths on my door, those pretty little winter villages that light up on my window sills and put red goodie socks on my fireplace for Santa to fill up if I have been a good girl! My husband fills them really but lets not take the magic away now!
A good site I found for information and resources on all your Christmas ornaments and decorations is http://skeletonornaments.com/
